How Asking the Right Questions Drives Corporate Transformation Without Consultants

Right Questions Are the New Currency of Corporate Learning

Questions. That is what corporations need today when it comes to transformation, development, and learning. AI will take on the role of teacher, coach, and consultant. People will learn on their own, searching for and finding answers themselves. But the questions — those have to come from somewhere.

Recently I completed a Machine Learning and Big Data program at Sber’s School 21. I learned to write Python code and trained my first churn prediction model. No lectures, no theory. You are given an assignment — train a model — and how you do it is entirely up to you: on your own, with your team, or with an AI assistant. But if you do not know which questions to ask, there is a real risk of heading in the completely wrong direction.

Why Teams Don’t Need Consultants — They Need the Right Questions

If a corporate team needs to understand what makes a product-led approach distinctive, they do not need consultants. The team already knows their business better than any outsider does, and if they do not know something, they will absolutely find the information they need.

What matters most are not the questions we already know to ask, but the ones we have not even thought to ask yet. Nassim Taleb made exactly this point in The Black Swan.

Strategic Session Facilitation: 48 Hours to Real Breakthroughs

Recently I helped a large company in Tashkent ask the right questions during a team strategic session. Within 48 hours the team found the answers on their own, and the result was a rich body of work: drafts of a Vision, strategy, metrics, goals, organizational structure, and business processes.

From there, the team can find any remaining answers on their own.

The One Question That Works for Any Situation

There is also one essential question that applies to every moment, every project, every product — a universal gut-check: What the hell am I actually doing here?

But that one is just basic hygiene.
